hi can anyone provide a guide with pics on how to change oil for autobox for a 2.6 52 plate tried m guide but cant find thanx :)
-
put the rear on either stands or ramps.
start with the large sump, drop all the bolts on one side, pull it so it drops down, and drains a majority of the oil.
Remove the rest of the bolts, repeat with the front sump.
Clean up the gasket surface, razor blades do nicely. Someone will post link for filter and gasket.
Personally i would change the filter, not just clean it for the minimal cost and effort taken to strip.
Re-assemble. Fill with 7L Dex III.
Level should be to drain plug with engine running, with car level.

Try a search - there has been plenty of discussion about it in General Help. Haynes also deals with it reasonably as I recall.
There is a maint guide on checking the level which would encompass the refilling process.

thanx is it easy to do :y

Its easy but messy ( a showercap would be a good idea...)
I would drain it from the sump plug first before dropping the sump and I used a decorators scrapper for removing the old gasket - that was the worst bit I found.

What are the benefits of changing the oil?... does it make the transmission better... my "S" button only comes on for 2 seconds will that cure it?

should be changed every 60k, esp if used for towing.
Apart from gradual deterioration of the oil, changing it also serves to remove the crap (as you will clean out the sump and clean or replace the filter), and ensure the level is correct.
