Title: automatic gearbox on mid

last night driving home i have given the car a good blast up the motorway and all was ok the only thing i noticed was a noticable shift into top . came off on to dual c,way all still ok came to a set of lights gave it a good bootfull away changed up as normal but when i backed off and whent to carry on driving the revs went sky high and then " automatic gearbox " came up on display . i then had no sports mode it wouldnt select 2nd only 1st but when in drive it pulled away in 3rd . if shifted manualy it went 1st 3rd . got home switched off and back on no fault and it hasnt done it again yet please advise what happend

sounds like the g/box got a little hot, perhaps an atf change along with the filter might be needed unless its just low on atf :y

Check ATF level asap.  Leaving it if it is low will ultimately shag the box

as TB says but would have thought if it had got to that stage the ATF probably got burnt anyway :-/

thanks guys on or two problems 1 its pissing down and two my drive way is on a slope . blast yet more money to lash out
