Title: PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP?
Post by: PhilRich on 21 April 2009, 11:40:19
Can anyone help please? I have only had my 2.2CDX since Friday 17th and since then discovered a problem with the Climate Control, the Emissions light has decided to stay on all the time, the radio has gone to 'Safe' despite no loss of electric power and now to cap it all I have no throttle at all! The car starts OK & will 'creep' forwards & back, but no response from the accellerator at all? I need to have reliable transport as I attend hospital 40 miles away on a regular basis. Any help on the throttle issue would be a Godsend! Kind Regards, Phil.

Is it the engine management light that is on? I am not sure about the safe radio but others will know.
My suggestion would be to check that all the vac pipes are secure and connected, that's the only common link I can see between throttle response and climate control. Maybe you could be more specific about the climate problem also, as a simple reset could resolve that one.

As above. Engine management light or emissions light. Explain CC problems. Do you have code for the radio. :question

Hello Phate321, and thanks for your reply.
I have already had help from another member on the Climate Control issue, & was about to tackle that today (loose linkage behind central console I am told). The radio problem can wait it is not important. The Throttle problem appears to be an entirely separate issue as it has only happened for the first time today, whereas the CC problem was present when I took delivery of the car on Friday last. I have just been out to empty the car of all personal belongings prior to it being recovered to a garage and fired it up again & Hey Presto, I have accelleration! but  it now sounds 'lumpy'. Kind Regards, Phil.

You need the codes read, which on a 2.2 requires a reader.

Whereabouts are you (update your profile..) as there may be someone local who has an OBD2 reader.

Hi RobG,
Sorry; I forgot to mention that the dash light is the Emissions warning and it is on constantly, not flashing & I believe from what I have read in the Forums that this is the lesser of two weavils ;-). As for the Radio, I do not have the code, but I am hopefully going to be able to buy a 'Car Pass' from the local VX Dealer. Thanks for your Interest Rob and also everyone else who has helped previously, believe me it is Very Much appreciated. Kind Regards, Phil.

Have you by any chance tried to reset the climate control?? there's the how to in the vauxhall / opel user manual

Try this:

If the electronic air conditioning system is not functioning  in the usual manner: press the AUTO and OFF buttons simultaneously for approx. 5 seconds.

Hi Phil
I'm new on here also. Can't help with the throttle issues, but the CD SAFE message is a common one. You need the radio/CD code number supplied with the car, and can reset the unit allegedly by holding the AS button then inputting the code digits. That said, it didn't work for me! I've also got the emissions light on, and will raise it in a seperate thread, but I'll keep an eye on this one. My one observation, is that the emission warning appears to be an 'option' when new. So if not fitted, you'd not know about it. My car runs fine, but the handbook says it should be sorted, and that fuel consumption will increase.
Hope someone with more experience can help further.
DF

Drop Dave DND a PM regarding CD SAFE messages, or find him lurking in the ICE / Electrical area. I believe he has a solution.

2.2 is drive by wire, so would suggest checking electrical plugs to throttle body and pedal. Also check maintenance guide section for cleaning throttle body and breathers. While in there see if the throttle responds to pedal movement, with help of an assistant. Failing that needs a code reader, pref tech 2 to diagnose. 2.2 being the only omega engine that cant flash out error codes def a pita. Hth somehow.

Further to my above post, the Emission Control warning has now gone off. Been off for 4/5 days and not flickered. V. Happy  :y, but don't know why it was on.

Ah hold up, yours is a 2.6 which is totaly different animal. You need the pedal trick, bottom of the link bellow.

Count the flashes post the error codes. Constant flashing, more than 10, means no codes.
