Where does the dipstick tube go and connect? Even better does anyone have pictures?
Does it end up horizontal along the cam housing/cylinder head?
-
The tube is inserted in a hole straight down behind the power steering pump. I had to find it by luck. Just insert the tube down behind pump until you touch bottom and then slowly move around until you find the hole. Then give the top a tap with a rubber mallett and it should be home. It bolts to the side of the engine with the thermostat pipe.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough.
I'm trying to work out what a tube-like part is on my engine. Obviously it's not the dipstick tube if that goes down.
Thanks anyway.

Where is the tube and roughly what size is it. Is it rigid plastic, a water type hose or something else??

a picture paints a thousand words if you can post one? :-?

It's about 10 mm diameter and the only part of it I can see is about 170mm, horizontal along the nearside ex manifold. Can be seen through hole in wheel arch and from above with heatshield removed. It stops about midway along the block and looks like it has an open end but I can't see enough and it might be capped off inside.
It has short unions coming off at horizontal right angles into the engine about 40mm and 140mm from the end.
It continues toward the front of the engine but I can't see where it goes from there.
I'm trying to work out if it's anything to do with oil and if it is, whether it fails and could be leaking onto the manifold.

Ok Im not sure what its called but Im guessing its the one that is bolted to the manifold and is steel construction.
It is a breather hose that is capped at one end and is bolted with two bolts to the manifold. The other end runs forward and under the power steering pump and into a rubber hose which is spring clipped in place.
It is part of the breather system :y

Yes that sounds like it. Nothing to do with oil then.
Thanks for your help; I can forget about that now.

Nope nothing to do with oil.
