Title: Help needed with my omega 2.2I CD auto
Post by: jampot1979 on 01 May 2009, 19:15:12
Hi, I am a newbie, so hello to all.

I have been given a 2002 omega 2.2I CD Auto with 103K Miles on the clock. Its in pretty good condition but the mot is due in 2 weeks and it does have some faults which I need abit of guidance with:

1. Engine management light is always on. Is there a simple way to reset this myself? car drives fine and all works.

2. The exhaust is rotton. Think the CAT is fine. Where is a good place to get a cheap system from? (would the leaking exhaust be the reason why management light is on?)

3. The stereo code is lost. Is there anyone on here who can help me find out the code?

4. The front tyres have quite abit of wear on the inside edges. Would this be due to knackered wishbones? And are they cheap to get replaced/fitted?

5. The engine is alittle ticky. It hasnt been serviced for about 2/3 years. The car drives fine and power seems to be there. Would a good oil change etc quiet the engine down or is this a sign of a knackered engine?

Basically I was given the car so I dont mind spending up to about £500 sorting it out. If its too much I will break it up.

Any help would be great. If I can save this car I would be well happy. Its such a nice car to drive

cheers

1) read the codes - guide on here

2) eternal car - google it!

3) Pm Dave DND on here

4) Check for play in all suspension components, and get geometry checked.

5) Change the oil a few times

And change the timing belt kit! :y

Only thing to note is with question 1 the codes can only be read with a code reader or Tech II, you can't do paperclip test or pedel trick on a 2.2.
