Yep, cambelt.  It needs changing (inc. tensioners) every 4yrs/40,000miles whichever comes first without fail  :y

I take it by that remark that it's coming up to (if not going over) the change interval?!

But it's far easier getting a new cambelt kit fitted, than replacing 24 bent valves...  :y

My 3.0v6 blew up one week after it had had a service at a Vauxhall main dealer.  I asked them to replace the cam belt which they did, but they didn't replace the tensioners at the same time and it was a tensioner that failed.
They tried to get out of it, but a Vauxhall engineer made them replace everything at their cost as the tensioner should have lasted 80,000 miles and mine had done 76,500.  Phew that was lucky.
The parts alone were around £2,600 plus vat!!! Prevention is a lot cheaper than the cure.

Mine came with service-history print-outs, detailing everything (and I mean everything - even down to lightbulbs!!) that's been done on it.

But if yours didn't come with the print-out, you could phone the force you got it off.  Ask the switchboard to put you though to the workshops - if you give them your reg, they will probably be able to bring it up on their computer

Mine came from Markey Mark and had a new belt/tensioners and all new gaskets including exhaust when the 3.0 engine was put in by him...so I feel confident I'm good to go for another 35k yet having only done 5k since I got it :y
