Title: Vibration at 55+Mph
Post by: Proz on 03 May 2009, 18:59:18
Hi all .... as above im getting a vibration through the car at 55 mph and above , it doesnt appear to be coming from the front as im not getting a steering wheel wobble that bad ... i am getting a very slight wheel wobble in the front but im thinking more the rears as the vibration feels like its coming through the car and not the steering . Im going to get my wheel balance checked to see if thats the cause on wednesday as its my first day off and i may do the front discs anyway and i am getting very slight wobble on braking . I called my local tyre place on saturday which used to be called Budget but to my suprise its been taken over by Kwik Shi*  :-/ :-/... when i explained the symptoms he said front anti roll bar bushes without even looking at the car , i wasnt to impressed .. anything else i should be looking at if its not the wheel balance  :-/
Cheers

wobble in the wheel = front

wobble in the arse = rears
 ;D ;D

I had vibration around the same speed, pop along to WIM, get the treatment  :y

Have a look at you Drive shaft c if the uni joint is ok nothing broken or missing just to be sure. I had it once on a artic truck was told it could flip the truck over if it does go. its possible it has nothing to do with your problem but at least you know its ok. ;)

Can always make it a bit of holiday!  ;D

I can't recommend WIM enough, i had vibration braking from 65 down to 50 ish and at 80 ish had it in the wheel and seat.

WIM transformed it! Tracks so smooth and straight as an arrow, goes around corners like its on rails.

I HAD EXACTLY SAME PROB, VIBRATION NOT THRU STEERING WHEELS JUST WHOLE CAR SHAKED, THOUGHT IT MAY BE GEARBOX MOUNTING, AS EXCESS GEAR STICK SHAKE, TOOK CAR TO GET WHEELS BALANCED, TURNED OUT TO BE DISTORTED REAR TYRES

I dont have gearstick shake so hopefully not anything like gearbox mountings .... im hoping ive just lost some balance weights and a rebalance will sort it  :-/
