It's much more worthwhile fixing the leak than patching it with additives. Although they might seem to work to start with the original problem still remains and sometimes the additives do more harm than good.

Clean up all the oil on the underside of the car and wait for fresh leaks to appear; that way you can find where it's coming from. It might be something as simple as a cam cover gasket.

That's true; I understand.
However you won't know what to do until you know the source of the leak. Get some 'stuff' to clean up the manky oil and trace fresh oil back to the source of the leak.

As for what 'stuff' to get I can't remember what was recommended to me for a similar problem but it shouldn't cost more than about £10 for a can or two.

Have you looked down on the engine from above to try to find the leak?
