Title: Strange clanging sound from front nearside
Post by: Omegadoha, Desert Member on 08 May 2009, 18:20:21
I know this is a difficult one to answer. But has anyone experienced a clanging, scraping sort of sound coming from the front of the vehicle. It speeds up and slows down depending on how fast you're going. Just goes like "clang, clang clang clang". It doesn't appear to come from the engine bay but around the wheel somewhere. Had a look under the car but there is nothing scraping against the tarmac. It turned a few heads as well.

Try looking at your Brake disk covers, Cold be one bent in some way its easyer with the wheel off. Have you done the breaks or had the wheel off before it started?

As said check out your front brakes, strip down and have a good look around.

It turned out to be the metal plate behind or on the other side of the brake disc. One of the bolts had come free. Main dealer sorted it out for free. Lot of noise though for something simple.

Thanks for the answers.

Glad you sorted it so easily & cheaply. You the same effect if a stone gets caught there too. :y
