Title: 2.5 td chip
Post by: semisheen on 09 May 2009, 21:02:34
More a curiosity question
what parts of the ecu does it modyfy IE:
does it didgitally advance the pump timing / raise the boost presure

anyone any ideas ?

I've got one fitted also, but like you say I dunno but it don't half make a difference.

Never actually measure it, but my suspision is it raises the injection pressure predominatly. Not sure what else it could do, as turbo is no ecu controlled.

I thought the turbo was / could be ECU controlled as "A pipe" goes from the inlet manifold to a sensor/switch near the power steering res
or is this for somthing else
ive prob got the wrong end of the stick
i had not thought of the greater fuel quantitys but thats a good point
i know usually on turbo  petrol re-maps the turbo pressure is often fooled & then the injector pcm is changed to allow more fueling as the origional maps of the ECU wouldnt allow enough fueling thus would be to lean
Saying that Diesels are a difrent ball game & run a higher boost compared to a petrol
has anyone tried a big front mounted intercooler after chipping their omegas

as previously said, td turbo is manual.

Whilst not the largest intercooler, its reasonably effective, later ones also fan a fan for forced cooling at slow speed.

Indeed your right again TB the boost pressure is indeed regulated mecanically the bit i was babling on about is apparently a "charge air pressure sensor"
