Anyone any good on valves? The valve on the cold pipe on the A/C system is leaking. Is it possible to put a new injector in? Or do I have to replace the entire pipe? The pipe cost around nearly 200 quid. The body of the valve is welded onto the pipe.

is this one of the filling valves? They are std schrader type, probably use any schrader insert (not that I've ever checked)
-
btw, its the black cap that is the seal, not the valve
-
Yes it is the filling point valve that appears to be defective. It hisses after recharging and you can feel a bit of pressure coming out. But I thought the valve kept the pressure in and the black cap was for dust?

no, in this case, the 'dust cap' is the main seal. But the schrader should be good enough that its not hissing out...

Thanks for that. I'll try and get the valve changed over first to see if the A/C system can hold the charge. Because at the moment as soon as the gas discharges the valve stops hissing. So I'm hoping the valve is the cause. Plus it is a slow leak.

which valve is this? The valve at the front of the engine bay near the rad is a replacable valve 52458177 and was less than £5.00 Not sure whether it was cold or not? :-?

any a/c shop can change the valve-I had both mine done last summer in Germany

I think thats the hot, high pressure one. I am aiming to replace the filling point valve. That was quite cheap as well. :)

Is it Andy? mine has some green coming out of the front valve and thought it was the whole pipe you had to change. Thought the rear one near the bulkhead was the valve one you can change.... If your right I will go and get one and have a nice cool car again :y

It is. The A/C bloke told me i needed to whole pipe, but I had a proper look afater he'd gone. It took a bit of finding the part though, TIS wasn't very clear, but andyc sorted out the part number........ again! ;)

So both the front and back have valves.... i will get one then as I was under the illusion that I needed a new pipe.
Cheers for that :y

Could anyone please supply the part number for the filling valve? The higher locaed valve.
