Title: waterleak help please...
Post by: mathewst on 10 May 2009, 15:02:24
Recently had a huge trouble with my mig.
Waterpump broke, cambelt valves etc went off.
That was all changed, the car was picked up the day before yesterday and I went on the trip yesterday.
And now the car is loosing water (aprox 1liter per 100km on open road).
I'm already going mad, not sure what is the problem and where is the leak.
Guessing it is the waterpump.
I'll post a few pics, anyone with a good knowledge please PLEASE help.
Here is the link.

At a rough guess Id say that your water pump has not been seated correctly and is leaking under pressure  :-/

Well from the photos you put up your not going to get a definate answer to the problem.

The water appears to be situated below where the water pump if fitted, however there is also a flange that mounts to the side of the engine with two hoses going to it, but I would doubt that it is this as I would have thought that the water would run down the side of the engine and not the front of the engine. Other than that there are no more water hoses in the leaks area so without removing the timing cover and taking more photos I dont think your going to get much more than a guess.

Sorry I couldnt be more help  :-/

Not sure if this helps BUT...my mechanic installed non-VX pumps and both failed within a week or so..failed as in leaked water.

Insisted he put a VX pump on and never had a problem since.
