Title: cuts out when stopping/slowing

hi
i have a R reg 2.016v cdx salon with 86k. which cuts out on me when slowing or stopping hard but starts up sraight away, the idle speed drops down to around 500rpm at the same time,
what can i do to sort this please as my wife says she will sell it if it happens to her again.

do a paperclip test and post up fault codes

try cleaning the IACV theres a guide in the maintenance section that may cure it

at worst itll only be a sensor which on a 4pot is fairly easy to change

i am most greatfull for reply,i am just printing out how to clean IACV as we speak but it all sounds a bit dutch to me but i am reading all that have posted and learning very fast.
paper clip test?
senser / 4pot?
im new to problems with a omega but they are great cars.

senser / 4pot? sensor = small electronic / electric parts that help the car's onboard computer store faults in your car on parts having a sensor. 4 pot = 4 cylinder engine
im new to problems with a omega but they are great cars.

It flashes up any fault codes that your engine may have stored via the Engime Mangement Light EML

you guys are great i should of come to you when it started having problems.i have printed paper clip test info and i will take the day off work and have a go to sort it out .

I HAVE DONE THE PAPER CLIP TEST AND COUNTED THE FLASHES AND THE RESULT WAS

1 REALLY QUICK FLASH AND THEN LIGHT WENT OUT.

DOES THIS MEAN ???

what now please..
