Title: Trying to Find leather and wood steering wheel
Post by: vfrdavid0 on 13 May 2009, 15:35:55
Hi

I am very new to this site.

I was wondering if somebody could help me. I am after trying to find a half leather and wood steering wheel. Where would be the best place to locate one from.

I hope i have put this in the right section as can not post in the wanted section yet.

Regards
David

Hi they come up occasionally on German ebay.de but are expensive. And one recently sold on here for a facelift for a very reasonable price.

I to am looking for one, but I want one for a pre facelift.

Good luck with the search.

Mike

Hello David,I too searched for 2 yrs and had success when I finally started to search Ebay motors under car parts useing "vauxhall steering wheel".I got an absolute gem for £57.00 at auction but it was from a Vectra B (I knew the same wheel was a Vectra option) it even came with matching gloss wood. The one that came up on this forum was a matt finish wood with a punched leather in the inserts instead of the smooth leather finish of the elite seats. You can of course see one on the Irmscher site for £500 plus.I hope this info helps, and you have the same success as myself.  :y :y

Sorry for a bit of a thread jack but if you have a pre facelift car without steering wheel controls is it just a job of changing the wheels or do you need to fit additional loom?

I'm not sure if it's just a case of fitting that part of the loom needed but will have to upgrade the head unit for it to work in any case :).

Andy, in the picture you included in your earlier post of the Vectra B wheel that you say doesn't have radio controls, aren't the bolt holes there for fitting them and don't the Omega wheels have them?

I would think the squib is different too (slip ring thing for horn & airbag wiring)  :-/

I'm going to change my early 96 non-adjustable column for the later adjustable type which does have the wheel with the radio controls but don't know if as Doz says it's possible to add the loom needed to make it work and again as i said in reply to his post would have to upgrade the head unit too :(.
