Title: have i blown a valve

After fitting new water pump which shreded up, the auxillary belt was thrown, but intact the car went on a test drive started rattling and tapping 10 mins into journey and missing, the temp gauge was showing the car was running hot about 100 degrees the heater works fine the rad and pipes are hot no loss of coolant. have since with all your help have re checked the timing belt which looka fine started it quick to check it and now sounds like a diesel engine with a metal chain grinding noise im at a loss can anyone help

stupid question, does it have oil in the engine....

Also - given the old pump shredded - I wonder if there's a foreign object in the impellor...

I would be grateful if you can shed some light on it i am at a total loss apart from petrol and a match at the moment, their is oil in the engine

It may involve you getting up at an unsocial hour - but providing I come somewhere near, it would be rude not to have a look / ear...

  Referring to your previous thread you started on this matter i now wonder as James has said if you have part or parts of your old pump clattering around your water system :(.

i have flushed the engine and found nothing, the noise is worse since flushing it,should i flush it again the noise sounds like its coming from the drivers side of the engine

Easier to flush water than it is metal parts so may be getting stuck along the way ::).

  May be better to let James take a look if he can :y.
