£80, clarke 3 tonne, machine mart.
Don't mess about with this area, you NEED a sturdy jack and good stands, with a car this size.... :y

I bought one of these for just under £40 delivered(by UPS)and seems like a great buy and is actually the model 1 up from the one Ken T bought as he had the last of that type so an even better deal than he got :y.
HTH,
Pete :).
PS. I know what James is saying is good advice but i would have thought that a 2 1/4 tonne jack should be ample as your never going to actually lift the whole car at once and even then it doesn't weigh that much anyway :).

I've got a gurt big Draper one which has taken loads of abuse never let me down (pun) but is really heavy so a pain to take any where
-
That is the same jack as i've always used without any problems Andy so the new one i've got can only be better 8-).

I bought that jack specifically for use with the caravan, didn't seem much point in having a spare wheel if I couldn't put the bu66er on, it was about £18 including the case.
I have a bigger refurbished at home for use on my car, & if I need anything bigger, I borrow my Dad's - it's big enough to lift the car up to axle stand height in one go. :y
-
If you want a proper Trolley Jack there is only one name...........Bradbury.
I have had mine since 1984!
Not sure how much these days, but if it's quality you are after this is the jack to buy.
-
I suppose it's like anything really, all depends what sort of use you want it for or intend putting it to and how much your willing to spend :-/.

Anybody ever dig a pit?
I've dug two in my time and layed all the blocks, very satisfying project for anyone with a weekend or two to spare!
-
Thanks for the advice fellas. I have a small trolly jack in case that i have used with no problems but i wanted one that i can get the car up higher with as to get my axle stands under and the one i have seen gets up to 800mm so thats plenty high. Just thought i would check before spending out heaps of cash.....

How high do your stand go up to?

im under the impression, rightly or wrongly, that in order to get car on stands reliably, you may well need 2.25 ton jack as a minimum. Have had the use of 3 smaller 2ton jacks and non had the hight to reach the lowest stand setting, one bent side ways quite badly as i have a rather breaked tarmac drive and the wheels dont role as its pumped up.
I now have a 3 ton quick lift jack which easily lifts to the top/highest stand setting and its well up to the job but is VERY heavy, unnecessarily so. 2.25 or 2.5 ton would be more suitable i would have thought. In my experience anyway. Hth
Having said that Mr Bs pictured small jack is doing bloody well lifting "ALL" that weight. ::) :-X

Your right mate when i put the small trolly jack under and get the car up i can only just get the stands under and thats on the first setting. The high lift one that i have seen is only 2 ton but thats what my small one is and that lifts it o.k just not that high. My axle stands are 3 ton ones.

i managed to get my hands on a good jack .i got from the local tyre and exhaust center .they had just replaced all the jacks and they were selling the old ones still in good condition got mine for twenty quid .you could say i was in the right place at the right time.it lifts my landcruiser with ease and thats three ton :y

Having it load tested with ALL that weight reassures me that it'll cope with a wheel change on my caravan! ::) ::) ::)
