Just got the wifes 2.2dti mig back and now i think the water pump bearing is going on my toy. only noticed last night when the wife came home as i was putting my other joy back in after work. how long does this take to do and whats the job like to do on the V6? >:(

Fairly easy as not on timing belt like the 2.0 and 2.2
-
if you buy the cambelt dvd from the oof shop it covers water pump change as well :y
basically though:
remove multiram (bagpipes)
loosen water pump pulley bolts (easiest with belt still on)
loosen aux belt tensioner (15mm socket clockwise to loosen)
slip aux belt off
remove water pump pulley
change water pump (3 x torx bolts)
and in the famous words "reasembly is reverse of removal" :y

Thanks for that. I phoned the main dealer today and they want £131.10 for the pump and the auto factors want £41.39 so were do you think i should go

Gen water pump from Vaux is only about £25 on TC...might be worth asking a local member with TC to help you out if you dont have one yourself??

I can buy one from and send it to you for £100?? lol
Yeah on some items it makes a staggering difference having a TC...well worth spending the £20 a year joining ABS and getting a card :y
-
i think i will pass on that thanks. Ijust looked on autovaux and it said £26.95 so i thank you all i just saved over £100 and can now fill the tank again :) :) :) :)

Was only kidding mate :y
Best bet though if replacing the pump is not 100% urgent is to join ABS tonight...should have your card within a couple of weeks max and get the pump on your own TC then :y Worth ringing back the stealers tomorrow and get a price on TC and be prepared to be staggered :y

Do they just send the tc when you join up then or do you need to apply for it. As you said well worth £20 to get the tc

water pump went last Sunday on the M4 only had to do a small trip and even kept to the speed limet. sod's law as i got the pump the day before (£41 from an auto factor in swindon). RAC got the mig back home and I had the pump out on Monday but needed a new aux belt as mine was due to go. That's when i found out the MOT had run out on the Saturday as i needed to look at the log book for vin No. Not like me to miss that :-[. Now have new MOT at a cost.
