Hi, it's probably been asked a thousand times, but I can't find it doing a search on here. I have two questions on my X30XE engine.
Question 1
Firstly, if I have no EML light coming on when the engine is running but when I do the paper clip test I get the following error codes:
73
46
145
144
89
31
Are these current or old codes as the EML light doesn't come on when running, what does or doesn't the ecu remember?
144 and 145 I know are old codes from when the keyfob battery died.
Question 2
Now the engine idles and pulls fine, but misses lots in 3rd gear at around 3000 rpm when accelerating hard. Would any of the reported fault codes lead to this?

Cheers, though I already knew the codes, I'm more interested in finding out how you know if they are current or not?
Also if code 31 would stop it reving above 3000ish rpm every so often I'm guessing 31 = crank sensor failing?

31 is normal if you flash the codes out when the engine isn't running.

19 is a Crank Sensor mate.
If you know someone or live close to someone with a tech2, they maybe able to clear the codes for you, you will then know if the codes return what problems to look for :y

I may get a crank sensor as a spare anyway so as not to get stuck anywhere.
Using a teck2 at the moment could be a bit tricky as I havent installed the OBD connector yet!

So am I right in thinking if the eml light isn't on when the engine is running and the car being driven then there isn't a problem? Even if there are fault codes when papercliped (or my version of it) ;D

In the normal course of things ... YES! :y
Quite what that means on a SE6 ..... err :-/ PASS/possibly!! ;D ;D ;D
You could try a paper clip test in a week orafter 20 or so 'clean starts' when the ECU is supposed to have cleared itself of old codes. :-/ :y

Ahhh, so it does clear it's self naturally then, that was what I was after.
It's probably the only SE6a with fault codes. ;D

Fault code 89 is oxygen sensor 2, is that the one on the left or right? Are they the same part numbers?
