This is a follow on from my previous thread. After having the car examined today it was found that the previous owner had taken the bulb out of the engine management and there are fault codes in the system..
A garage has tracked the fault back to the ECU, 8 fault codes came out: 0120,1120,1405,1550,0340,0650.
The engine lack of power has been put down to the ECU sending the wrong voltages out. Can i get one from a scrap yard and replace it? can they be repaired? do you have to take them to Vauxhall? etc
any help you could give would be much appriciated.

After just reading another thread if i get another ECU and get it re coded do i need a certain key as i was only given one with the car?

There are a few places that will test your ECU for a minimal diagnostic fee, and if possble, will then repair it for in or around £250.
I sent my ECU to a place called ECU-repair.com recently as I was told by the main dealer that my ECU was screwed. ECU-Repair.com have tested it and stressed it and have told me that the ECU is actually fine and only charged £55 for the diagnostic.
Might be worth trying them out first before buying a new one.
