Hi Gents. Just got a cheapo flaring kit, no instructions,
I have done a couple of flares, they seem OK but would appreciate any tips.
I would like to make up the pipe before taking off the old one,
so what ends do I put on?

I would suggest you take the old pipes off and then you can see exactly what you need, as you will need to copy the length and any bends the originals have.
As for the flares, makesure they are central and just file any burrs off.

I agree, take the old one off first, it will have either end on it, the next section of pipe will have the other end to make a pair. Like the last post said, you need to copy the bends first to get the length right. Then cut it and flare it. Just remember to put the unions on before you flare the ends. You will probably find the pipe has one type of flare on one end and the other on the other.

Yep rememeber to put the unions on, I've been guilty off not doing that before and you have to start all over again!

I reckon we've all made the mistake of not putting the union on....... Once!
Just as an extra bit of advise... Make sure the union will fit and tighten fully... I had to re-use an old one on a car once because the unions weren't standard thread :y :y :y

Thanks for the best wishes, job is easy. Got the gear sorted now. Changed one short one, plus one front to back, no sign of leaks as yet. :y
