is it worth giving it a change some people say it'll be fine and others worth it. I had a rover 827si and the old owner said it makes hell of a difference so wondering wheather to apply this to the migbeast'dangle berries'.

Good question. Dunno, but I'm curious about that too. Someone will be along with an answer soon.

I am in the same boat! My 'box is a bit notchy sometimes and I have often wondered if new oil would help. I am thinking that I might do it when (if) the clutch gets changed :-/

LOL, I thought all Vauxhall gearboxes were notchy ;D. If I was being kind, I would say 'positive'
-
Wouldn't mind giving mine 'the treatment' too.
Anyone know what's the best oil to use?

See what Opie Oils recommend. And we OOFers get discount, plus I seem to recall extra discount vouchers available over this weekend

Hi changed my manual box oil on a 90K box 6 months ago as was a problem in cold weather engaging 1st & 2nd gear ,since change wow! 100 % better .Used Castrol SMX-S fully synthetic ,think box takes 1.2L but will require this x 2 as after draining you need to refill take it for a 30 mile run drain and refill to clear residue of old transmission fluid ps refilling is a pita need a large capacity syringe or long tube + funnel.

I changed the box oil on both of my previous BMWs and it made a noticeable difference in both cases.
The correct oil to use varies depending on the year of the car - Vx will be able to tell you which one is correct for you, and yes it may well be worth flushing out the box too. :y
