Title: Auto GearBox goes bananas
Post by: arlee219 on 21 May 2009, 23:31:32
Yeah...
I can't get this one now:
For some time now Auto GB changes from 2nd to 3rd gear at round 1500-1750rpm, and some times runs and "screams" like crazy for 10-15 secs at 2200-2500rpm before shifting up. Why?? (Just for the record - never done anything with GB before)

Gearbox could be in need of an oil change or have a sticky relay. Tech2 should indicate any relay problem. Oil change is cheaper!

Other possibilities are

the gearbox is acting normally,
it has an incline sensor that delays upshifts / downshifts to provide more engine power or braking respectively (there is a stretch of road in Bracknell where mine will not change up until 2750 rpm if I am being gentle on the the throttle)

or

the box has a cold start (not winter mode button) program that delays upshifts to get the catalysts upto operating temperature more quickly.

I have changed the oil and got the latest ecu maps on both the box and the engine

Just some ideas

Have checked oil level - it's all ok (changed 5k ago)
how can I change, check or refill gearbox oil (fluid)?
