Another question. My dad has a 1997 Omega Elite TD2.5 Estate on 16inch wheels.
Can anyone advise on the best tyres for this? What brand is recommended? He wants something fairly hard wearing that isn't too loud as some tyres have really bad road noise.
Cheers!

I use Falken ZE912's on my 17 inchers, have turned out to be pretty good all rounders.

Due to my tractor's generally low annual mileage, I've put a set of Federal on mine.
They were around 40 quid each, (hard bargaining here!), and are a non-directional 'budget' brand. They're proving to be a good choice - for mine anyway!
If you're looking towards 'branded' jobbies, (Michelin etc), I'd be shopping around and trying the 'hard bargaining technique' You should be pleasantly surprised at what you can achieve, and don't forget that you want free fitting, balancing etc; thrown-in too!
Remember, it's a 'buyers market' out there!

Prefacelift Elites take a nasty size, bumps up the price dramatically.
I put Nexen CP641 on my chipped tractor, worked quite well, except suspect in heavy rain.

I would also add, the cheapest of the branded tyres I tried - Avon ZZ3 - were absolutely appalling on my tractor. Brilliant fun, but shredded in 4k.

Cheers, will look up the Federals I think. He mainly uses it for local round town use, but lives in Portugal and will be returning there in the next few months, so tyres need to be up to the job for a France, Spain Portugal road trip and be good in higher temperatures as well as UK.
I will also look up the Vauxhall recommended ones as not sure what they are.

Federals should be well-suited to this.
Although mine does lots of local running around, there's also a fair bit of caravanning involved during the summer months too.
I've no complaints, and they're 'non-directional' - so diagonal wheel swops present no problems either.
PS: It seems that they're popular with the local taxi trade here too!

Perfect. Will pass this on to my old man and start hunting for him.
Cheers again bud, really helpful of you. :y

Hiya,
I had problems with my 2.5 Elite until I changed all of them for Michelin Pilot Primacy's. Now it is quiet, sticks to the road like shit to blanket and is a far more comfortable ride at the rec tyre pressures of 31 all round. Bonus is that they are hard wearing too!
Remember that you will only get what you pay for and cheap tyres on a performance motor is a bad move.

Of the better premium brands, Michelin are the one brand I won't use. They are too hard, which causes the surface to go a bit strange, resulting in them being a bit slippery for me...

The size is 225/55/16,
"Mytyres" have 151 V rated types and 95 W rated - what 'nasty sizes' ?
The prices are from £45 'what bumped up prices' ?

I have to agree with the Mitchelins , the Migs are high performance cars , no good having the power if you cant stop when you need to , just my opinion .

Continental Premium Contact (225/55/16) are the best I have ever had on my Elite
