Title: Cam cover sealant
Post by: Martin_1962 on 27 May 2009, 16:19:40
What exactly is it?

Any suitable on line sources for purchase?

I find it is a good sealer for other jobs so want some spare for non car use.

why not get it from the stealers, not that expensive.

It's Loctite 598 or similar. Available from Halfrauds, etc. although the last tube of sealent I bought there (it will be the last too) was set solid in its' tube.

Dealer prices are probably pretty competitive - if they're still in business, of course!

Just wanted a similar black sealer which was cheap.

Loctite (910 IIRC) was used at the factory.

Its black silicone sealer. http://www.absealants.co.uk/
although you will find that Soudal 40 FC  polyurethane from the same place is a much better general sealant.
