Title: Freshening up the handling
Post by: markh1 on 28 May 2009, 10:25:14
The handling is getting a bit tired and I am wanting to make it better.

What parts are worth while replacing?

So far I have springs and dampers but are there any drop links or bushes etc that should be replaced?

Cheers,
Mark

You can also (well preferably after)  have the cars geometry set up properly at the like of Wheels in motion, they will get the most out of your setup, and ensure propper tyre wear  :y

Where do you guys tend to buy your parts from?

I don't think anybody here is gonna beat the Camberley Auto's price of £43 + VAT for the wishbones, certainly not Vx who want £195 + VAT (punter price).
Likewise, the droplinks are £9.95 each at Camberley's.

Front shocks cost me £41.27 each from Vx, although I doubt there are too many here that could get that.
Punter price from Vx is £70 each, and I do believe the Trade Club price is £52 each (although I suspect that could vary depending on who the trader is).

My advice is just shop around before you part with your hard earned, because while Vx are sensible on some things, they take the proverbial on others.

Tradeclub prices are set nationally  :y  they issue a website and book  :y

VX are too dear for most suspension bits unfortunately.

Be aware of the very cheap steering idlers and droplinks

both have been proved many times to be absolute rubbish.

FSC used to be THE droplinks to go for, but finding them has become trcky  :y

Just checked what I picked up yesterday (wishbones & droplinks), both made by Delphi/Lockheed....that's a trusted enough name for me.
