Hi all - need some advice pls - just gone to start my car and the ignition lock is stuck - wont even get to position 1 - anyone got any ideas how i can release it - i found the how-to for cleaning the lock but i need to get to position 1 to dismantle it - plus the steering is locked so i can't get the cowling off >:( Any advice greatly appreciated

I am sure someone will be along to help soon. All I know is the lower part of the cowling can be removed, and I think the top half too. Worth having a look.

have you tried to move your steering wheel and turning the key at the same time? they can hang on the wheel loc sometimes. try moving it and feel if the key is about to release..

But for emergency. use wd 40 or crc in the keyhole. fill it 5-10 times(use the red fill tip and put it down in the hole so you know that you are getting it in)
and put key in and out some times between each fill. if this works, remove the plastic and clean it.

Other penetrating oils does it as well

Thanks for all the advice guys - just managed to get it to turn now so i've taken all cowling off and will follow the how-to by matchless to clean / re-condition the barrel - i've just to make it turn again to do the procedure :y

Just took barrel out and soaked in wd40 from both sides and now turns quite freely - will leave it for a while and see if OK before stripping down :)
