Title: Omega 2.5TD rnning lumpy
Post by: Spen221 on 01 May 2009, 15:53:53
Hia I'm new to here and am so glad to find an owners site :-)
I've got a 2.5td Miggie with the bmw lump it ran lovely up until about 3 or 4 weeks ago, i took the engine cover off and found a broken vacuum pipe which i repaired which vastly improved things but it still seem to run on kangeroo juice(thats the best way i've heard it put).
I've since serviced it in case it was the deisel filter or cr**py oil, it doesn't seem excessivley noisey any ideas?

Welcome mate!
Try updating your profile so that we can see where you're at.

Cured mine thus:
Remove the fuel filter assembly complete from the inner wing.
Unscrew the filter from the head, then check to see that the fuel heater is tightened snugly to it - use a pointy-nosed pliers on the threaded collar underneath. (Heater sits between filter and head). Drain the filter, and fill with Forte or Diesel Magic, and snugly re-tighten it to the assembly. Refit to the inner wing, start up, and see where you go from there.

Mine was drawing air from between the fuel heater and the head. The threaded collar only needed a quarter of a turn with a pointy-nosed pliers to effect the cure.

Hello, and welcome! I would try doing as Sethsmate says, especially filling the fuel filter with Diesel Magic (from Halfords ~ £5) this should give the motor a good wash out.

Also it is worth seeing if the car is "paperclippable" - see Maintenance guides for more help on this one as it may give you some codes to help pinpoint a problem.

Does it drive rough/slow, or is it just lumpy on idle?

Yep, got mine and apart from an existing issue with injector pump by the looks of it :(, it's much quicker and better fuel economy.  :y
So Chip away if it's manual, but upgrade to an AR35 autobox is a must if it's an auto. (Or say byebye to your box in next to no time...just like I did on my 1st Mig  ::))

Talking about the dreaded '64' .......

I did a paper-clip test on Markseth's tractor when I recently had it here in the 'service centre'
It showed-up the 64, but as you're aware, it's running brilliantly all-round. This may well just be a 'stored' code, and needs a visit to a Tech2 to 'clear' the memory.

Whatever, I think we'll presently ignore the code and keep our fingers crossed!
