err you wont find anything on it it was never built the V8 omega i mean

it had a rather rubbish GM Northstar V8 nothing like a 5.7 proper v8

The V8 Star was i think a space frame chassis with a plastic body. If you look at a side picture you'll see its only a two door.

The only "Omega" to get a V8 as standard would have been the Holden Commodore

Yeah keep seeing V8 listed on Tis but makes you wonder why Vauxhall/Opel bothered when Holden already had it sorted

quite true Andy they should of just phoned holden or chevrolet up and ordered a batch of LS6's Or 2s and took it from there a proper brutal V8

i reckon an LS6 would go straight in the omega with a small ammount of shoehorning

if i come into some money circa 10k id convert the MV6 ;)

shame the v8.com failed the Autobahn flat out speed tests as i would of thought opel would of put it into production maybe even vauxhall under there VXR brand

it failed the flatout Wolgafast test i think thats what they call it! please correct me if im wrong on the wording

and its power output is rather dissatisfying

Thats strange because the Northstar is meant to be the better engine than the normal V8 chevy lump.

Smaller CC 4.8 i think and running 32 valaves with quad cams and all alloy. I might be wrong but i think its used as a FWD motor in a Caddie!!

Could of been a crap transmission they used in the flat out tests

Extract of Wikipedia about using that engine

Omega V8.com
The V8.com concept car project was meant to be a "mobile office" it was built on Omega station wagon which was elongated by 130mm, to provide more space for the passengers and additional equipment; containing separate 9.5 inch LCD screens for all passengers, internet access and integrated video conferrence mobile phone system with separate cameras and microphones providing passengers hands-free operation. Additionaly the car was equipped with Xenon headlights, and Advanced Frontlighting System (AFS), automatically adjuststable to the road conditions.

Hence the name it was powered by a GM LS1 V8 engine.

The car debuted at Frankfurt Motor Show in 1999.[8]

[edit] Omega V8
Opel was planning to upgrade it's flagship Omega model with powerful GM LS1 V8 engine used in Chevrolet Corvette.

Unlike V8.com which was the concept car, this model was planned to go into the serial production.

Omega V8 was showed publicly for the first time at 70th Geneva Motor Show (March 2 - 12, 2000). A V8 engined version was to be put on sale autumn 2000.[9]

Cancelling

The reasons for cancelling production plans were concerns about whether the engine was vollgasfest (German, "Full throttle resistant") - the engine might overheat and be damaged if driven flat out on the Autobahn for long periods of time

reallly a great shame would of been a fun bit of kit and would of put the omega as a serious contender against 540is & E430s

I don't know if you understand me... I know all about V8Star racing cars. And how and from what are they built off, I just can't find dimensions of a car himself like: lenght, width, height.... Becouse I don't have posibility to phisically measure one.
If not I will have to go to irmscher museum??!!

This data I need for my project to make V8Star omega in outside, inside will be normal omega 3.2 liter engine (with tuning) and of course car will be street legal :D

Here is picture of a car whose dimensions I need: lenght, width, height...

The V8 Star was a space frame chassis, big V8 and a plastic body bolted on. The only thing it will have in commom with a road car is it will look something like it.

How the hell you'd get the track that far apart on a road car i don't know. If you want a race rep then why no look at some of the older V8 touring cars from OZ.

These are built from road going shells so might be easier to get the specs

All I need is if any one has or can get me dimensions of the car body. THX :)
For info. I've already done irmscher DTM Astra street legal :D but for Omega, I was to late to get some info about the car.

Just wandering around the net looking for information to help you out and I found this:

http://cgi.ebay.de/PROSPEKT-OPEL-OMEGA-IRMSCHER-JOHNNY-CECOTTO-2001_W0QQitemZ360158643088QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090528?IMSfp=TL090528147003r20718

I never knew there was an "Opel Omega Special Edition Johnny Cecotto"!  :o :o

(Johnny Cecotto drove the V8 Star Omega, as I'm sure you know).
