Title: Estate Rear Wheel Bearing

My MV6 has a rumble from the rear. It sounds to me like a wheel bearing, and when you swing the steering to the right - the noise goes away - and returns when you straighten up.

Which side is it likely to be - and moreso - what are they like to do? Any special tools?

Forget this thread - I just checked out a few older ones on the same subject.

Garage it is  ;D ;D

I hate steering and suspension work at the best of times, and I will get my hair off with that one.....

Been there, and in my case it was not too bad, in fact changing the cam cover gaskets was far more difficult IMHO.

I know I had it the easy way, the bearings were not rusted solid to the hub (although there was ALOT of rust in the bearing/hub, which pointed me to the reason of failure. There is no gasket inside the bearing, water can easily get in and then it's done...) but still pretty straight forward.

Now I have to replace the other side, the first was done two or three years back, hope I still remember how it went  ;D And, with my luck, I will be removing the rear arm as a whole and take it to a press...

If the bearing outer comes out its not a bad job.......if it does not then its a trailing arm off and sledge hammer plus lots of heat affair!
