hi guys can ye help me again i going to get the chip for my 2.5 td v reg facelift unlcky alf was telling me i will need a socket to fit the chip as it needs soldering any body know where i can get one of these scokets thanks guys :y

socket, craplins or anywhere will sell one. Its finding someone to fit, assuming you can't do it yourself

Maplins for the socket. £1.01 (why the 1p :-?).
I used de-soldering wick to remove the solder on original chip. Solder sucker wouldn't do it.
If your not used to working with circuit boards I would advise getting it done by someone who is. There are tracks within 1mm of where you will be soldering and you really don't want to damage any of those.
Well worth it when it's done tho :y
Edit: Thinking about it, Maplins usually have an in-house workshop. Ask them if they'll do it.

The 0v is the hardest to desolder.
Wouldn't trust craplins to do it, but most TV repair shops should be able

Take a look on page 1 of 'Maintenance Guides' section.
Read the post on fitting a performance chip. Some ECU boards don't need a socket soldered in - it's already there. Just a case of unplugging the old chip, and plugging in the new one - simples ..... !
Then just sit back for the drive of your life mate!
