Title: Lots of warning lights
Post by: Martin_1962 on 01 June 2009, 08:56:42
On the way to work today loads of warning lights came on

ABS, TC, EML, Charging, Airbag, and one other.

Rev counter & Speedo both read 0, gearbox went into top and stopped changing.

All fuses look OK, power steering still worked, CC fan was intermittant.

Cleared by turning off and on, leaving off for a minute or so.

charging voltage?

Possibly - came on at highish revs.

What is the fix for this?

If, after measuring, its going above about 14.8v when at 2000rpm, you need to repair the regulator on the alternator

I'd say it's charge related... Used to happen all the time on my Cavalier ::) ::) ::)

Is there an FAQ for this?

Don't think there is. Hard to tell until Jimbob has done an index for the Maintenence Guides section, and that won't be for at least another week.

Agreeed, a few things to check :y

So, Martin Imber, you need to get a meter out before going further!

Meter is sitting at home.

Are there any engine earths on the heads?

can't remember if on heads or block, but over towards 1/3/5 side iirc

No, not the 2.6 and 3.2

It will be either a voltage high or low warning......do a pedal test to see what the engine ECU is flagging up.

Well 1500 is an O2 sensor fault(Bank 2 mixture control sensor)

0320 is not a recognised code so may be a miss count, I would be expecting an 0560 for a voltage issue

I keep getting 0320.

As to 1500, is it Lambda / wiring or could it be an after effect?

Or is it cat issue?

dont think so - that would be 420/430 and 170 codes

Had this happen on my previous 2.0 Ecotec.

Turned out to be a duff earth lead from N/S/F of engine to battery negative terminal. Easily diagnosed by securely clamping a jump-lead from engine lifting-bracket to said terminal on battery.

Good luck mate!

Battery has broken away from the battery clamp and is sliding around.

Some spilt acid :( :o

Will properly check tonight.

Had a mild acid burn - now OK

It was - one of those silly plastic mouldings on the side

Leak was the little window popped out - refitted

However I think the battery has lost the ability to be charged.

Will check tonight the voltage

Not much acid lost, so topped it up.

COMPLETELY flat.

On charge now, I reckon either alternator or lead off.

Will check in the morning.

How much for an alternator?

reckon alternator may have cooked the battery?

iirc, if you have a genuine TC card, there is an extra £10 off alternators til end of June...  ...I'll dig out my vouchers...

Well I have found out 0320 is Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction

Possible crank sensor
