Title: Fuel Mixture
Post by: OLDTIMER on 04 June 2009, 22:26:38
Hi Peeps
Just had the car MOT'd today, past, but did have a slight problem with the CO2 levels not being as they should be. The geezer said that it is running too rich. He said that most Omegas, Astra's & Cavaliers have this problem, and sugested that I get the V6 motor(sic)LoL
I also have have a problem with tick over as it is runnig a little high around 1200=1500rpm.
Question is how do I adjust these niggely things.
Computer tells me I am averaging 32mpg on a steady run (@70mph) on the motorway

Your mechanic is full of shite! Find another.

Any injected car, the ECU controls fuel mixture. In modern ones, its a closed loop system, so ecu monitors emissions, and refuels accordingly.

Post up the emmissions results.

Clean the breather system and throttle body, and check no idiot has adjusted the butterfly (should close 100%) as a bodge.

Also change the oil and oil filter and make sure your air filter is clean as well, these will all help
