this may sound abit thick but can any one tell me if the light on the dash is on is the tc on or off

Light on = TC OFF

tc is on by default, light off.
turn tc off the light comes on, as said, to warn/ remind you to turn it back on again.

Hmm. found myself on some damp grass with plenty of run-off area today so turned off the TC. Big mistake. 5 seconds later I was pointing 90 degrees off my direction of travel.. And I span 270 degrees to get there. Mental note to change those tyres. :-[
