Hi guys, how long to change the above? Am a confident monkey (aircraft tech by trade and can rebuild ford crossflow in my sleep), but i need the car to get to work so dont want to run out of time, dont want to get up to early from nightshift. I have to change the rad at the same time -may as well only drain coolant once.
Obviously not done it before but do have loan of a set of locking tools.
Cheers, Al

give it half a day as its your first time but a couple of hours if you are quick
-
half a day = 4hrs? or longer. I normally get about 6 hrs to myself on a day. Would rather do it during the week as I can then spend the weekend with the family.
Does doing the rad add any real time to the job?
Cheers again, Al

3hrs for the belt and pump. No idea re the rad I'm afraid. My guess would be add an hour at most
-
about 3-4hrs first time sounds fine. Rad could add an hour or 2, as you will need top up autobox, may have to degas the aircon.
-
Many thanks, will start and if I run short of time they will have to do without me at work for a bit.

Ok, thanks TB, aircon changes things. Didnt realise you needed to touch AC to do the main rad. Good excuse for night of work though!

Maybe I'm forgetting something, likely! but I can't recall touching the aircon last time I did a 3.0 Rad....
-
No need for an air/con de-gas if you're just doing a radiator, condensor is right at the front with the coolant rad is just behind it.
I wouldn't worry too much about the ATF either, I lost next to nothing from mine when I chnaged my rad last year.

some you do, some you don't hence the word *may*

What part of the aircon needs to be touched on some models TB?
Only asking as I've not come across it.... :y

Cheers guys, will try it this week and will let you know about the AC. I know the auto box will need a top up, replacement rad is drained. Fingers crossed about the AC though.
