Can anyone help??? After about 10 minutes of driving the indash computer comes up with CHECK AUTO GEARBOX then the engine management light comes on and then the engine cuts out. But when you leave it till it cools down it's OK again for another 10ish minutes, it seems to be when it gets to around 80c on the temp dial.

What engine is in the car and what year is it.
I would suggest doing the paper clip/ break peddle test.

Sound like a crank sensor but post the codes up.

It's a 3.0 v6 elite vreg 2000

I see you're in Shropshire to.
If you're not too far away, I've a quality code reader (not proper Tech2) that you could use to see if there are any reading off it if you want ?.
It'll fit the OBDII / EOBD plug.
Offers there anyhow.
PM me if you're interested

Cheers chaps but there is no error code, I’ve had it checked by Vauxhall. There now telling me that the gearbox oil is black and smells burnt, this sound quite bad.
Do i need to scrap the car?
Any opinions please!!!!!!!
-
I would drop the gearbox sumps, clean the filter and put new oil in before scrapping it.

"Scrapping it !!!!!!!!!!", as Elite Pete suggested, change/clean filter and put new ATF in.
Omega's are only scrapped when they are "down to three wheels, one engine cylinder and the 'metal maggot has eaten 75% of the body work, even then the bits are worth cash.

Link for autobox filter replacement -
I've tried looking, but can't find it at the moment, but some has been adviced to get a quality gearbox filter and some decent trans fluid (Dextron III) from a company that will supply at a better price than the dealer will.
Can't remember if their called something like JPS Autotransmission (anyone else know or can guide to the right place).
Seams the fluid and oil change need to be in tip-top order for the Autobox to behave itself.
I'll see if I can find the link.

Got the name wrong,
Try these chaps, and see if they can help you out with a filter.
Can't personally recommend them though as I've not used them (yet !).

You won’t believe this, got it back from Vauxhall Friday working fine. It's just done the same thing, is there any other sensors that would cause this to cut the engine off?
They dropped the oil and changed the filter, now I driven it all weekend and it was fine.
Any idea’s ??????????
