Title: Key Fob
Post by: rik1165 on 20 June 2009, 15:13:17
Can someone please tell me if replacing the battery on a 96 omega elite's Key Fob is just a matter of out with the old one, and in with the new one. Or is there more to it than that. I have just done this only to find that the fob is still not working.
It started to play up for the first time last night, but after a few more presses it finally opened the car.
However, this morning it didn't work at all, so i put it down to needing a battery change, as i havent yet done this since owning it.
Any advice please.

With new batteries they might just need reminding. Sit in the car with the ignition on number 2 (red lights) and press the lock button until it locks and unlocks. Should be OK then :y

Do you have the fob on the key or a seperate one?
I have a 95 model. so fob is extra from key.
turn ignition on and hold fob 30 cm from inferot bulb ( over your head in the middle ) press the button, keep it pressed in till curtisie light flashes and thats it.
Dont know about the other one though.

1996 model will be the more advanced RF type, but still seperate fob.

1994/5 - IR type, black dome by mirror
1996/7 - RF type, seperate fob
1998-2003 - RF type, integrated into key

The fob is seperate to the key, and I have just been out and followed your instructions and it has worked perfectly. So many thanks to you and all who have responded.
Cheers
