Title: 2.2 Flange to Cat
Post by: tunnie on 20 June 2009, 13:41:17
The flange join before the cat on my 2.2 has cracked closest to the cat causing it to blow slightly.

Anybody recommend a source for these? rough price?

Also whats involved in replacing these?

Cheers  :y

Sure people here have been able to locate the part easy enough  :-/

In the back of my mind, I can't remember if there was welding to be done  :-/

I had the same problem with mine, did a quick fix with a bandage and two jubilee clips; sealing the hold and still giving flexibility. Should give me enough time to save for a full exhaust system.

right just rang my local ATS place, it comes as a complete unit  :'(

What about a de-cat solution? Run a stainless pipe through, then with the cat attach short stainless pipe to replace the flexi, and pop that on for each MOT?

Thats what I said the other day to you, but sure some OOFers had managed to source a flexi on its one - I distinctly remember MDTM posting up an eGay link for someone.  As said in this thread, unsure if it needs a weld.

You can get weld on, or clamp on flexi sections from ebay mate.

Clap on would be fine if you got a good fit, but you'll need to know your pipe diameter.

I have the same problem on the Astra.....

When you say clamp, you mean clamp the entire flexi which seals it up?

Always wondered about it as it looks like gasses should escape unless its a sealed unit underneath that exterior.

If i can just get a big fekoff clamp and seal it, i can do that  :)

ok something like this do?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CLAMP-ON-FLEXI-EXHAUST-REPAIR-PIPE-250MM-LONG-57-63MM_W0QQitemZ140322110514QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item20abd97c32&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Cut the old one out? only thing is, i think my flexi goes straight into the cat  :'(
