I have been trying to resynchronize my key fob as per page 55 of my owners manual. The battery appeared to be getting weak and would only work right up at the car. I changed the battery but took over 3 minutes to do so.
I have been turning the ignition on, but not starting the car, and leaving for over 30 seconds. The manual says this is all that is needed to resynchronize the remote. But it will not open and lock the car appearing to be dead. The battery is a brand new one. Is there anything I am doing wrong?

assuming its rf type, need to press the buttons on fob while ign on

I think what you have to do is put the key in the ignition, turn it to 'I' position press and hold the lock button on the fob and that should re sync it.
Edit: just beaten to it by a matter of seconds lol

Cheers folks. I have realised that the +ve connection within the fob was poor. Have just resynchronised successfully.

Is this the same proceedure when buying a new key?
Only one of mine is working, (buttons knackered), so I was planning to buy a new key at some stage.
The last time I bought a new key it cost me an arm and a leg to have it programmed, so if there is an easy way to do it .......?

Nope, that just resyncs an already programmed key.
No known way of doing it other than using a key programming computer, such as tech2
