Title: Outside Air Temp
Post by: Snake Pliskin on 06 June 2009, 19:04:12
Just bought a 2000 2.5 v6 cdx. On way home noticed outside air temp showing -40. found this slightly suspicious as there were people wondering around in tee shirts. Checked it again today and now get an F on the left and just the degrees C on the right. Any ideas? ;)

most likely knackered sensor. Only a few quid from dealer.  It lives behind passenger side bumper (prefacelift) or behind middle of bumper (facelift)

Ours has failed the other way, displays about +32C  8-) when its freezin' !

Does the bumper have to come off? Not that bothered about the temperature, but if it's easy to do will get one.

No, (for prefacelift) it's a push fit into a hole about 1/2 " dia on on the passenger side of the car from inside the bumper. If you look on the outside there's a small cut out too.

Omega B (94-03) covers prefacelift and facelift. if its pre 2000, it'll be on passenger side, if it is 2000 or later, its in middle

right, i've found sensor and changed it. Strill getting an 'F' on left hand side of computer display. Is this because the car is stationary or is there still a problem?????? :-[

Check the wiring!

It's worth getting it working because it does more than just display the temp on the display, I believe the Climate Control uses it's input as well.

i have disconnetcted multi plug and found one of the 4 pins has corroded and ended up stuck in the female half of the plug. Does anyone know if i can just connect the cables directly to each other without having the plug in the line? I can't see that it does anything other than serve as a connector... :-/

Could do that, or speak to someone on here who's breaking one, and put a new plug in - but then I like things to look factory...
