Title: VX Prices
Post by: Toby on 29 June 2009, 16:55:39
Ok, could anyone with access give me some prices for some bits from VX both normal price and trade club price. I've decided to bite the bullet, give my pay packet a hammering and get everything sorted that I can.

All parts for a 1999 Omega Elite 3.0 Manual

Exhaust centre sections
Exhaust rear silencer (twin tailpipe)
Front droplinks
Rear droplinks
Steering idler
Diff Oil (how much do I need?)
Diff gasket
Filters - Air, Oil, Pollen, Fuel
Spark Plugs
Oil

I have already found places for the parts but I want to compare prices and see if trade club is any cheaper.

Thanks

Hi there Toby,
I'm assuming yours is a pre-facelift as it's a 1999 and also a saloon, exhaust is different for estate.
Prices are as follows;
1) Centre sections x2, retail £118, £121. Trade club, £77 and £75
2)Backbox with twin tailpipe, retail £162. TC £108
3)No idea about the rest until we get to filters, see below.
4) Air filter, retail £15 tc £9.39
-Fuel filter, retail £9.05, tc £6.09
-Oil filter, retail £2.07, tc £1.29
-Pollen filter, retail £8.35, tc £5.65
-Spark plug, about £2.10 each. Depends which 3.0 engine you have.
-Engine oil 10w40 5 litres, retail £25.90 tc £10.89
Hope that helps.

1999 will have the paper element oil filter, around £2.50 tc

A few here have gone away from genuine exhaust parts as they don't appear to be very good now... Search for eternal :y :y :y

Well, seems other places are cheaper then,

Exhaust system and droplinks from one site is 192.07 inc delivery

Wishbones and filters from another are 80.13 inc delivery

Steering idler for 34.50 inc delivery

Spark plugs I would probably get from VX anyway, they can't be that expensive. Not keen on the multi electrode ones, twin will do fine.

Decent prices?

If I ring up my dealer for prices and just ask 'whats that on trade club?' they tell me, no quibbles.

Doesn't your dealer do that? Odd.  :-?

I will admit I haven't tried that. However previous experience of that dealer (from when I had my Vectra's) wasn't good. Seems to be a trend with the dealers in these parts  :-/

Will order all my bits tomorrow I think. Wallet is protesting already - I can't find it  ;D  ::)

Eternal seems to be the way to go - £130 inc delivery within 5 days for both centre sections and the twin pipe rear box. My local independent could not rate them highly enough - they run them on all their large Vx's and their more discrening customers are requesting them too. I get mine fitted Thurs/Fri so will let you all know then.

I like genuine Vauxhall parts, but I have just changed a drop link, Partco at nearly £13. That was a front, but I am assuming rears will be about the same.
