Hi
On removing my passenger side wheel to inspect the brake pads i noticed a black gromit about the size of a two pence coin on the right hand side on the wheel arch ,this was leaking water? So i removed the plastic gromit and got soaked on closer inspection i have found a plastic tank which i assume is holding the water
can anyone tell me what this is thanks Tony

sounds like the scuttle drain, which you should have been keeping clear ;)
-
Thats the header tank that houses the ballcock that supplies the laughing shaft with coolant! as you are a plumber I would have expected you to know that ;)

passenger side scuttle, remove the plastic for the bonnet seal, there is a little flap which has access to the drain from above.
This should be kept clear, other wise it will end up killing the heater matrix, and causing your front passenger side carpet to become wet.

Thanks for the reply tunnie ,how will this cause problems to the matrix. How is it linked ?
Thanks Tony

They're not! ;)
If the scuttle drain is blocked, it just means that water doesn't drain through, and drains into the car's passenger footwell instead! :y

The water that is leaking out of the gromit is linked to a plastic holding tank fitted in a box section which you can just see from underneath the car.
About 3 inches from the gromit there is a rectangular spout about 2 inches long and this leaks from time to time.
