Car failed MOT today with poor CO reading of .51% .30% being the limit.
Advised to get new air filter and change oil. Have done oil few months ago.Thought of new plugs etc, but whats the most effective at reducing these emissions.
Does anyone have any advice on how to bring these readings down?
Car was otherwise fine aprt from t rod ends and usual handbrake stuff.
Many thanks in advance..
By the way, all other tests were pass.

New airfilter and an Italian tune up .. :) (rag it hard for a good few miles then have it retested), and it might be worth checking the breathers
It is surprising what giving it some welly will do for cleaning things up and making the engine run better.. :)

i recently had to un block lot of breathers ( i had the ususal stalling issue and found the solution on here!)and cleaned them through with carb cleaner. Could this be the issue and maybe they need doing again?
Will deffo try the "tune up" you suggest with a new filter.
Just a thought , but if it fails again on my free retest, am i screwed basically and need to aoy again or is it down to the garage?

Give it a good blast before going back to the test centre as well, nice hot CATS works better than a stone cold ones !!!

Wouldn't be a bad idea to change the oil again, depending on what you mean by "have done oil few months ago". 3, 4, 5, 6 months ago?
Certainly won't do your chances any harm.

Passed the MOT !
Gave a good blast so cat was "like toast" according to mot guys instructions and was little inside limits.
I also put new oil in, some stop smoke, and cat cleaner in fuel tank!
Anyway, thanks everyone for your invaluable advice, i now have my car back! :)
