If auto box is it in park? If so try playing with the shift lock under the gear lever gater..... as covered in the manual i beleive? Should hear it click when you press the brake pedal iirc.

Don't feel victimised Eddie, my 'O'me-ga has just done the same thing to me....(Key fully inserts but will NOT turn - feels like there is too much weight on the lock from the Steering Wheel rotating, but I checked 4 that by wiggling the wheel, no joy!). How difficult is it to 'pull out' or liberate the Lock Assembly in this condition/position....... any comments gratefully received.

if i remember rightly you have to turn key to position 1 and depress pin in lock body 3mm allen key or similar works. Remember you need to get cowling off first for access. I had to break my barrel out and get new one from autovaux. theres a how to on here somewhere and its in haynes manual.
good luck
