I tried paperclip, found this:
10 long - 4 short - 10 long - 3 short
It repeated itself again and again, so i guess there are noe other codes stored...
However, assume the correct code is this:
P0403 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage High C-25
P0403 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage Low C-25
but I have no idea how to solve it..
Any ideas? engine is '97 x20xev

Clean your EGR, they get gunged up ;)
Ok, thanks.
However, I did clean it just a few months ago. I filled it with exxol and brushed it with a soft brush several times. Put on a new metal gasket at installation.
Maybe I should use harder brusher, stronger chemicals? Please advice.. :)

check wiring to and from, plug seated correctly, no frayed wires, etc.... spray with switch cleaner...?

check wiring to and from- no, I have no idea which voltage range it should be in, so even if I measured the volts I wouldn't know if its correct. The only thing I can do is to visualy inspect the wiring.
plug seated correctly - yes, this I know for sure
frayed wires - have not checked this, will check tomorrow
I'll try spraying connectors at the same time.
The reason for me checking for fault codes was the EML light comming on this morning, after picking up the car at the airport, it has been standing for 1week.

Removed EGR today, it looks ok, wiring looks acceptable, but hard to tell, as it it is very narrow.. Does anyone know which voltages I could expect if I measure on the EGR connector....?
I had a feeling that the EGR acctually is functional, and that this could be related exhaust system. manifold is newly repaired ( welded), with new gasket against cyl head and also against downpipe.
Is it possible that the lambda is disfunctional, without giving me any signs?

The emission lamp i lit everytime I coldstart engine now, and it light up more and more frequently everyday.

Went to local garage, they diagnosed, only to find what I aleready know, EGR fault.. Cleared the code, and good to go. They charged me 45pounds to diagnose, Norwegian prices are not exactly "nice prices"...
However, the EML light did not show up again. But nevertheless, I replaced EGR with a used sparepart from a friend. Did not recognize any signs of improvements of power or accelration.
Will replace DIS pack and fuel filter next....

Ok, its been a while.
I have discovered that the emission light catagoricly is lit when i push her to the limit; racing off with a high rpm. The light will always go off again after going back to normal rpm.
It is also very often lit when driving to work in the morning, cold engine, but only for a few seconds.
How is the EGR valve related to rpm and driving behaviour? And what does this tells me...?
