Well I managed to get the bugger out and thought I know I'l open her up and have a look inside. Oh yes theres the problem has the Master MDTM has explained before. So with soldering iron in one hand and solder in other I proceeded to solder away. Anyway managed to get the blob on the correct track but also manage to get a little on another track and proceed to scrape away excess (BAD MOVE - DON'T DO THIS) one abs ecu breaked all the small stranded copper wire you can't see GONE >:(. Not happy >:(
Need to get another blighter now. Oh well you live and learn - Don't break with things you shouldn't. Have to wait till morning now to see if scrappy has one.
BTW one breakED ABS ECU for sale ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Feel free to send it to me, I'll repair the broken tracks (and whatever else you managed to break with an iron that was probably no doubt way too hot, and had a shovel bit just for good measure ;D )
-
Oops, having seen what needs doing in these can understand it breaking :'(

The only place this thing is going is in the bin. not worth saving tbh.
As with the soldering iron you were nearly right about the size if I used the super 500w bugger, lights dim when I put that on. Watch the tracks raise then ;D ;D ;D ;D

Definately fiddler buggers, worse thing was, I had it soldered and fixed until forgetting there were other copper strands across the tracks - gutting I can tell you. Oh well off to see the scrappy in the morn :(

i have a spare from a pre-face 2.5 john if that would help :y
-
guess that £50 is for one they know they can fix and use again....not a previously butchered one :-/

Probably right there Jimbob, a bit of blue peter magic and it will be as good as new, except not working :D.
could be used again if you have the time and patience to repair the small stranded tinkers - might attempt again myself tomorrow after a good nights sleep. :y

You'll be surprised what can be fixed, I've repaired more than enough PS2's that have been "worked on" by the home user with a 25W iron that cost them £2.99 from Lidl.

We've got a soldering iron like yours at work, I believe. We call it the "donkey's dork". ;)
Only useful for repairing welders, and plumbing.

They will give you £40 for the Omega ones ending 206...and you have to pay for the postage to get it there...but well worth it still rather than binning it :y

Just an update - I've fitted ABS ECU from a crappy scrappy only to find that the one I've put on as ESP (and not the telepathy one) comes up with identifier 1x114, anyhow I still have TC light on dash and a redlining rev counter, but what I find strange is my LPG will not work now. I know the varient needs programming and am awaiting another ECU courtesy of an oof member, what as baffled me though is why the LPG has stopped working, will not even communicate with software - Does the ABS ECU have all connections running though it which control the engine ECU. Any information appreciated
Just spoke to Lazydocker and we have worked out why no gas. Due RPM red lining at 7K the RPM signal to Gas is breaked. Hopefully remedied when next ECU installed. :-/
