Title: Key Fob Battery
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 17 June 2008, 19:57:07
Is there anything I need to know or watch out for on changing the key fob battery.

How easy are they to change and does anyone have any pics.

TIA

You replace with a 2032 making sure the battery goes under the black clip at the rear of the holder.  If you managed to pin this flexiable clip against the wall of the holder you will have a problem.  But it is as easy as that Skruntie :y :y ;).

After changing the battery you will probably need to "resynch" the key ... place key in ignition, switch on but don't start engine, press lock all doors lock, press unlock all doors unlock .. remove key ... job done  :)

Just had to re-sync my keyfob to my car (after a complex diagnostic process of swearing, glowering, and threats of Fawlty-style violence). Is this a sign that the battery's going?

If I do swap the battery (facelift 3-button fob), how fragile is it? I deal mainly in hammerwork, so if its too fragile am I better off giving it to someone more... forgiving... to do?

Its a 2 minute job .. if it takes longer than 3 it needs resynching !! It's no harder than changing a watch battery or a computer CMOS battery.

Really very simple  :y :y :y
