Hey guys, I've just removed the old stat in an attempt to solve the cars running hot issues.
Gave it the quick test of dipping it in boiling water where yes it did open but the seal inside would sometimes block up part of the area the coolant would flow through.
The new stat was purchased through Central Auto Supplies of Corby but this one appears to have no bleed nipple for any air?
So which way round does it go? Does it matter as I've always had the bleed nipple at the 12'oclock position. Do I drill my own hole?
Also, the bit that you don't see when it's fitted (With the 3-bolt housing off - of course) is shorter by a couple of mm?
Would that make a difference or am I just being soft and thus should man up a little?

Some have bleed holes some don’t …the long end….: the end were the spring is faces in to the block as it doesent have a bleed hole after you have finished run it up outside your house for 20 mins & make sure the water is ok as it “May” go down as the thermostat opens ……

I changed the pump & stat and flushed. New rad cured hot running . Used to climb quickly to 100 on any incline. Now sits at 95 up to 97 on grades at 120kph. My viscous does not work GBP 180 for rad. Should have changed it first.

fit same way as other one, don't worry about no bleed hole
