Hi guys
The car been running lovely, however this morning starting from cold it was missing every so slightly for about 20 secs and you could smell petrol, then it cleared and all was well. It drove perfect and after a few hours i restarted it and again, a slight smell of petrol and a slight miss, but cleared up a lot quicker.
I have James coming out to do the service and cambelt but in the meantime anything i should check?

one of ours does this too,
can't nail it.
had new plugs and leads
no apparerent air leaks
inspection port in the boot sealed well
manifold gasket may not be the best seal in the world, but thats it.

didnt do it at all this morning, maybe one of those weird things cars do sometimes! ;D

Check the rubber seal on the fuel cap mate, just might be coincidence that its not running right. This happened to me on my vec,and couldent find where it was coming from, and so turned out to be that, hope this helps. :y

We'll take a look tomorrow Lee
The condition of the plugs will probably tell us quite a bit
Leaky injector maybe?

Cheers James.
Its only done it those 2 times and didnt do it this morning, i cant see it being anything serious. It runs like a dream, maybe it was a bit of gunk in the fuel system and its cleared itself now, the car wasnt used much before i bought it, only done 1200 miles since Feb.
I did think leaky injector too, would the fuel cap problem smell all the time though? Never had any petrol smell before or since ( i do love the smell of petrol though! :D)

I don't think it's a fuel cap
We'll be doing all the filters tomorrow, a proper service, hopefully it will sort it.
Note to self - must pick up a big oil draining tray for gearbox sumps on the way down....
There is no drain plug, it involves sump removal, and it's MESSY ;D

Check the fuel lines from the tank to see if there is any damp patches on them, this was the problem with my vectra ,i looked for weeks to find out where the smell was coming from . It was only slight and for some reason i could only smell it in the morning ,found it when the car was on the ramps--JK

use it for all fluid drops, and they are very clean affairs now :y
