Title: V6 cats
Post by: Toby on 24 July 2009, 22:07:33
Where can I get a pair?

I believe one (or both) is knackered and this is causing the raspiness.

I bought my system from onlineautomotive.com but the cats there are £100 each. Anywhere where they may be cheaper? Need to sort it as I don't think the paste has sealed properly as I can hear it blowing as well as being raspy. It's also knocking sometimes so I need to get under and refit it all properly

Can anyone confirm the correct order of nuts and washers on the cat to centre pipe joint?

Thanks

check the parts second, quite a few being broken at the moment, but can you expand on raspiness?

The Cats are generally very reliable.

I really don't know how to explain it. Its a very harsh, rough sounding rasp.

Almost like there is a lack of silencer, but not a blow.

I checked my son in laws cats to see if they were blocked by removing the rear silencer , as it is a v engine the rest of the pipes are not connected and so the pressure in both pipes with the rear silencer removed should have the same amount of pressure, son in laws had almost no pressure coming out of the passenger side ,and when investigated further it was found that the cat was almost completely blocked, it might be worth a look as it does not cost anything , but make sure the pipes are not to hot when you check for pressure, don't want any one to get burnt hands--hope this helps ---JK

Got a pattern exhaust on it? The could be blocked and causing the same problem. Try disconnecting the exhaust to inspect the cats, although get some spare bolts just incase they snap

It is a pattern exhaust methinks. However, it's brand new. The bolts are fine, however not sure on the order of the washers etc.
