Title: Air bag warning
Post by: amba on 26 July 2009, 21:43:59
My steering wheel is not dead straight and this has bugged me for ages.If I remove the steering wheel and disconect the air bag will I then need it reset with a tech 2.../ or is there a clever trick by disconnecting the battery for a few hours first and then putting it back together when all reconnected.

Just don't turn the ignition on with the air bag disconnected.

So if I disconnect the battery for a few hours..then remove steering wheel and reposition and fit all connections back..then reconnect battery, and only then turn on ignition I will NOT require the air bag light resetting?

Correct! but you don't need to leave it hours before you start work .... 10 - 15 mins I think.
Thing is though, why isn't your wheel straight? It could be a part of the steering that's bent and is causing your wheel not to be in the sttraight head position.

I keep saying I'll straighten my Astra's wheel - similar reason - but that's as far as I get!  ;D  ;D
Disconnect your battery & go & have a brew/ciggy, you'll be fine!  :y
